The Vice President, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting is responsible for all external financial reporting of the TJX Companies. The VP provides enterprise oversight to insure proper accounting for all transactions and compliance with all GAAP and SEC regulations; maintains proper controls over financial reporting; reviews and coordinates implementation of new standards and maintains/enhances documentation of Accounting policies and SARBOX controls. She/he will also assess current corporate and financial reporting structure and make recommendations as needed in response to global and international growth. Will partner closely with internal and external resources including audit firm, legal counsel and divisional finance leaders.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees proper accounting treatment of all transactions in accordance with GAAP, ensures consistent application among all operating divisions
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual SEC filings including 10K and 10Q, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulations
  • Manage all external reporting which includes; Derivative, Hedging, Debt Covenant and Compliance
  • Support Proxy and Statutory reporting
  • Assess control over financial reporting and make necessary improvements to existing controls and develop new controls when appropriate.
  • Work with Corporate Accounting and operating divisions to maintain and enhance TJX’s accounting policy manual to insure adherence and consistency across the enterprise
  • Develop reporting and procedures to allow management to understand our foreign currency exposure and execute appropriate hedging strategies
  • Research accounting requirements and implications for special transactions (i.e. acquisitions, restructurings etc.)
  • Provide guidance/research to finance organization for all technical accounting inquiries
  • Stay current with new accounting standards and SEC regulations; provide management with implications for TJX and coordinate implementation efforts.
  • Provide guidance and support for other regulatory filings (i.e. statutory reports of foreign entities, proxy filing etc.)

Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of experience
  • Large, public accounting “Big 4” environment with international and SEC reporting requirements expertise as well as experience leading a corporate reporting function
  • Superior technical accounting skills
  • Ability to assess, recommend and implement opportunities for program change and enhancement
  • Demonstrated success building relationships and partnering with cross functional internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication abilities including verbal, written and presentation including the ability to present complex subjects to Executive leaders.
  • Proven skill leading, building and maintaining strong functional teams through effective recruiting, training, coaching, team building and succession planning
  • Collaborative and result oriented leadership style with experience developing strategic initiatives aligned with the organizations business objectives.
