About this job

A trained Respiratory Care Practitioner ensures that cardiovascular and respiratory care and testing is rendered to patients in accordance with the NBRC and hospital standards. The job requires the provision of direct patient care and testing. The RCP will be responsible for administering Cardiopulmonary therapeutic modalities to patients of all ages; maintain airways of patients with respiratory arrest, administer adequate ventilation via ambu or mechanical ventilation in the patients who cannot effectively ventilate for themselves. May be cross-trained to other duties within the CPS department but outside the normal curriculum of respiratory care. (Ex. EEG, EKG, Stress testing, Sleep Studies)

Education:

Must be a graduate of a college with accredited Respiratory therapy curricula.

Licenses/Certificates:

Must be a RCP credentialed by the NBRC as an RRT or CRT or awaiting NBRC exam

Must be licensed to practice as a RCP in the state of South Carolina

Must have current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications.

Experience:

Desirable characteristics include at least two years experience in a hospital practicing as a Respiratory Therapist.

Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.

Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

Other

Will work any shift to cover shortages as required by director. May be required to be on call. Ability to

communicate clearly in English. Must be Able to get to work for scheduled shifts in the event of increment weather.
