Responsibilities: This position will require direct patient, physician, nursing and other supporting staff face to face interactions. There will be high volume requests via computer orders, phone, email and fax from all levels of the Mayo Clinic staff. This position requires critical thinking skills with attention to detail. Ability to take vitals, enter information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and assist in the basic triage of the patient Having the ability to handle/prioritize tasks simultaneously is required. Due to a fast paced work environment you will be required to handle change on a daily basis. Activities include the ability to help identify possible trends in the processing of orders to increase scheduling efficiencies. Ability to understand logistics and how it can relate to your work area associated with the flow of patients throughout Mayo Clinic; with attention to standards of safety and security. Maintains regular contact with medical specialty areas (Physicians, Nurses, Secretaries and Administrators) as part of the patient care team to ensure quality scheduling as it relates to long term solutions. Requires strong problem solving skills with the ability to make decisions promptly and utilize appropriate resources in multiple areas to research/resolve issues related to the episode of care. Time management and the ability to meet deadlines are a requirement of this position. Other job related duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required. One year of medical experience or 2-3 years of customer service required. Applicants without prior documented medical terminology must complete a class within 1 year of hire date. Experience with computers must be demonstrated in previous positions/college.

Additional Qualifications: Position requires strong computer skills, communication skills problem solving, continuous improvement and teaming skills. Superior verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The ability to work in a team oriented atmosphere. Successfully demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a fast paced challenging work environment. Must be willing to modify individual work schedules/responsibilities in response to department or clinical needs. Ability to handle/prioritize tasks simultaneously. The ability to work directly with patients who exhibit different population specific needs.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $13.54 per hour.
