Responsibilities: The Procurement Transplant RN Coordinator coordinates all aspects of solid organ procurement for Mayo Clinic in Arizona Transplant Teams. The Procurement Transplant RN Coordinator is accountable for the coordination of direct patient care and supervises nursing care provided by assistive personnel. Collaborates with nurse education specialists and nurse managers to provide information to the nursing staff. Assesses and plans in collaboration with transplant physician, transplant surgeon and interdisciplinary healthcare team to correctly disposition organ offers suitable for organ transplant, as well as identifying, understanding and articulating when organs are not acceptable. Demonstrates an extremely high level of competency with multiple organs. Assesses data reflective of the patient's listing status and appropriately interprets information relative to blood type, HLA interpretation, donor specific antibodies, place on the national UNOS waiting list, body size and the patient's age-specific needs. Collaborates with the Medical & Surgical Directors of Organ Transplant Teams and participates in the interpretation and validation of laboratory test results. Performs coordination of patient care throughout the immediate pre-transplant process and coordination of transportation to transplanting facility. Performs nursing and administrative duties including documentation of vital donor information, managing IV medications to keep organs perfused until procurement, coordinating surgical procurement of transplantable organs, proper packaging of donated organs for transport per UNOS regulations and arranging flight or ground transportation for each placed organ to receiving facility in a timely manner and in accordance to regulatory requirements. Oversees the optimal functioning of the equipment used in the unit and coordinates daily workflow of the unit. Ensures regulatory and compliance of procedures and protocols throughout the procurement process. Assesses, evaluates and provides supervision of nursing care provided by assistive personnel. Provides patient and family education on a consistent basis in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Day and night shift applicable. Handles 24/7 on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis. Weekly duties include but are not limited to inpatient, clinic and triage responsibilities. Provides leadership through activities such as community involvement, committee work and participation in research. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the United National Organ Standard's guidelines provide the basis for practice.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Minimum of five years of RN experience required.

Additional Qualifications: At least two years of experience as Transplant or Procurement Coordinator is strongly preferred. One year in Critical Care or Operating Room preferred. Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) or Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) preferred. Must possess strong organizational, critical thinking and decision making skills, ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workload. Strong communication skills required. The ability to interact effectively with people at all levels inside and outside Mayo Clinic is required. Must possess strong computer skills - including the ability to navigate Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able and willing to work independently.

License or Certification: Current RN licensure from Arizona required. Basic Life Support Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Competency. Additional certifications may be required by unit guidelines.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,975.20, based on a full-time position.
