Full Stack Java Technical Lead / Manager - NJ or MN

This is a tech lead / manager role in which you will be hands on 2/3 of the time and 1/3 of the time will be managing 15 - 20 resources (30% FTE and the rest contractors).
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Hands on leadership while working with technical and business teams to deliver critical business initiatives
Owning, end - to - end accountability for practice area deliverables
Support and steer your staff and project teams through efficient design, development, testing, and deploy phases
Leading matrixed teams to common solutions
Maintaining visibility on day - to - day activities with project teams AND ensuring sufficient face - time with your direct reports (employees & contractors)
Develop & Provide metrics / reports to internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis
Managing practice area financials, resource utilization, staff development
Mitigating risks and addressing obstacles as needed
Leading, coaching, managing and mentoring
Engaging in RFP responses and SOW activities
Understand and ensure adherence to enterprise technology standards (e.g. solution patterns, application frameworks, technology roadmaps, capital plans) or follow exception / waiver processes as needed
Resource - manage a team of employees; & contractors  manage multiple deliverables and projects and prioritize work accordingly across a s team of highly talented technical Engineers
Motivate, inspire, and career - manage employees; strive to improve the skill level and performance of the team and all colleagues
Strive to be a thought leader and advanced practitioner in creative tools and tactics; forward - thinking in understanding the emerging tools, technologies, and technology practices and progressive in learning the application of these tools and practices
Define appropriate use and positioning relative to other technologies in the enterprise
Accountable for practice area resource performance and work quality
 

Required Qualifications:

4+ years full stack Java development experience
3+ years tech lead and / or IT management experience within Java development
2+ years Agile experience
2+ years API or WebServices application development and design experience
Experience with demand management and capacity planning
Experience managing people, workloads, and assignments
Experience integrating with SQL and Oracle databases
Excellent communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree
Experience working in complex, matrixed environment
Experience presenting to business leaders and IT executives
Understanding of continuous integration
Healthcare industry experience
Strong knowledge of application architectures and frameworks
Cloud API experience
REST experience
SOAP experience
