The Sr Business Analyst position will be responsible for gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements to support a variety of cross-functional capabilities at Optum.  Additionally, the position will represent the business to support the technical design and execution of multiple time-sensitive projects.

This person must possess the ability to rapidly build their knowledge to understand the inner workings of the business processes and systems so they can facilitate and influence the technology needs and deliverables developed to support the operations teams.Primary Responsibilities:

Serve as a key resource to solve problems using sound business judgment, manage projects, create back-up plans and execute effective solutions
Conduct analyses to identify and manage issues, risks, improvements and gaps to generate recommendations and resolve complex business problems
Lead and attend meetings to effectively engage and partner with cross-functional operations, product, technology and reporting teams to create and deliver solutions
Lead requirement gathering sessions with IT and Business Stakeholders to gain consensus and sign off for the development and implementation projects
Demonstrate leadership by coordinating the requirements, specifications, design, and user testing for multiple projects
Develop understanding of business processes and technical applications to ensure the documentation of high quality requirements
Document process flows, deliver use cases and build job aids for both current and future state products and or processes
Collaborate across a matrix environment to engage appropriate internal and external partners and ensure successful alignment from initial concept through tactical execution
Anticipate customer needs and works collaboratively to develop innovative solutions

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration, Supply Chain Operations or related field
4+ years of experience in business analysis, gathering and documenting requirements
2+ years of experience in business process analysis, workflow, evaluating processes and providing improvement recommendations
Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
Preferred Qualifications:

Healthcare industry experience
Project management experience and ability to use MS Project
LEAN or Six Sigma experience
Operations environment experience
Ability to write Standard Operating Procedure / Job Aid format
Ability to communicate and present thoughts clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to problem solve and critically analyze data, designs and documentation, to prioritize projects, research information and develop the best solutions
Ability to function in a multi-initiative, change driven environment (dive in and digest information quickly) and implement across organizational boundaries
Comfortable with technology and data (know how navigate, test, and troubleshoot applications)
Flexible, consultative attitude and able to establish relationships
Self-starter and quick learner
