About this job

Responsible for monitoring the company's quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Conducting scheduled facility observation checks.

Knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, SOP's and Food Safety.

Monitor product and facility temperature from receiving to shipping.
Verify HACCP checks are being conducted according to plant HACCP plan.
Work with production to assure that all products are produced up to specification.

Conduct organoleptic testing on raw materials and raw products throughout the entire production process.

Conduct package quality inspection and quality audits and isolate product that does not meet standards.

Maintain highest possible house keeping standards to prevent microbial contamination, this will include light sanitation duties to prevent cross contamination during processing.

Demonstrate accurate and complete documentation control.

Take corrective action when necessary and communicate the non-compliance to QA Manager.

Responsible for inputting traceability information into our computer system.

Job Description:

  • Monitors and directs mixers to ensure proper mixing of ingredients for a consistent product
  • Visually inspects, checks and records temperature information at all HACCP points of production
  • Identifies quality concerns with ingredients and packing and brings them to the attention of management
  • Monitors weights and appearance of finished packaging
  • Observes good manufacturing practices of production employees, including: inspects and evaluates the cleaning and sanitizing operations; inspects and understands packaging standards, and: inspects the sanitary and mechanical conditions of the line
  • Ensures calibrations of monitoring devices, including but not limited to: scales, thermometers, and water activity monitors
  • Assists with raw material and/or quality issues (e.g., completion of and facilitation of reject/hold forms)
  • Performs product tests, including but not limited to, water activity, product quality and taste evaluations on daily production runs
  • Perform line checks to ensure quality packaging (label, seals, etc.) and correct coding information is being performed.
  • Coordinates appropriate tests through the use of approved outside laboratories
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety manufacturing standards by all employees
  • Actively participates in tracking improvement projects
  • Reports and conducts follow-up on food safety, special departmental projects, etc.
  • Continuously monitors the quality of the product and materials to comply with product specifications
  • Ensures cleaning and food safety conditions are maintained in the department through Pre-Operational and Operational inspections following SSOP's
  • Enforces company policies, including: food safety and GMP procedures and regulations
  • Verifies and documents daily CCP records
  • Works independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SSOPs
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to perform tasks independently with limited supervision
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, problem solving, organizational and analytical aptitude
  • Good math competency
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects
  • Efficiently utilize a personal computer outfitted with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Manufacturing experience, preferably in the food industry
  • Specialized training, or certification, in Food Safety, Food Science
  • Food manufacturing experience with food a PLUS
  • MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR WORKING IN FOOD MANUFACTURING/PRODUCTION FACILITY.
