Senior Financial Store Merchandise Planning Analyst

HomeGoods Store Merchandise Analysis Team:

HomeGoods Merchandise Planning and Analysis (MP&A) is responsible for in depth and complex preparation, analysis, and development of numerous reports which identify merchandising trends and opportunities. MP&A provides Senior Management, Planning & Allocation, and Merchandising information for use in decision making, and partners with these stakeholders to provide recommendations as a result of analysis.

In this role the Senior Analyst develops thought processes to improve ranking philosophies, methods and systems to support business strategies. They will develop and maintain store capacity thresholds and travel to stores to evaluate and develop action plans to drive sales.

Responsibilities include:

(Pre-season)
  • Partners with Planning & Allocation and Systems to develop the thought processes for ways in which ranking philosophies and methods can be improved.
  • Partners with Planning & Allocation to ensure store ranking continues to support the business objectives and philosophy.
  • Simulates any proposed ranking process changes to assess their impact.
  • Creates the Ranking Calendar and Pre-Season memo published to Planning & Allocation to explain and outline the ranking process with key action dates.
  • Determines special attention store and develops a strategy for ranking these stores whether it be systemically with the balance of the chain or off line through detailed analysis. This could include creating special criteria for the systems group to use systemically rank these stores.
  • Reviews the ranking logic step by step with Systems to ensure that the most current logic requested is programmed correctly and ranking is ready to run.

(In-season)
  • Evaluates field (Regional VPs/DMs) and Planning & Allocation call-outs on inventory levels and/or business opportunities and initiatives.
  • Creates exception reporting to evaluate ranks in initiative stores. Goal is to ensure ranking supports all business development initiatives.
  • Performs independent store analysis, determining potential opportunities to drive profitable sales.
  • Develops and maintains store capacity thresholds. Ensures appropriate inventory management in stores with high/low volume, initiative stores, expanded home stores, etc.
  • Makes recommendations to lower level planning to PMs to support better profile analysis and/or opportunities to rank at a lower level within a business (urban vs non).

(Regional)
  • Manages OTS weeks, sales trending, and patterning for stores
  • Performs special projects as necessary.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years of business analysis experience
  • Strong conception and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills to all levels of management
  • Proficient technical skills: Microsoft Office Excel (pivot tables), MS Access and PowerPoint a plus
  • Proactive, detailed-oriented, and results-driven
  • Knowledge of TJX Planning and Allocation systems and procedures a plus
