Position Title: Assistant Golf Professional

Facility Name: Beaver Creek Golf Club

Location: Avon, Colorado 

The Beaver Creek Golf Club is open from May 5 - October 1, 2016- This is a seasonal position.

Facility Description:

The Beaver Creek Golf Club, nestled against the slopes of Beaver Creek Mountain, is one of the longest established golf courses in the Vail Valley. Opened in 1982, the course was designed by noted course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and is known and respected for its long, narrow challenging fairways and its stunning scenery. Beaver Creek Golf Club is artfully complemented by its impeccably-maintained greens, awe-inspiring alpine backdrop and diverse array of Rocky Mountain wildlife. Both seasoned veterans and aspiring golfers will revel in the astonishing aura of one of the longest established golf courses in the Vail Valley. Precise shot-making is necessary between majestic pines, a cascading creek and off elevated tees throughout the 18 holes on this championship course. The first three holes challenge some of the best, and the last holes lead up to the clubhouse with a stunning fountain and pond landscape in sight. Views of Beaver Creek Ski Area, home of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Championships, envelop many of the lush fairways and greens. The Beaver Creek Golf Club course is located in a gated community and set parallel to Village Road, which leads directly to the world-renowned and European-inspired, Beaver Creek Village.

Position Concept:

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Assistant Golf Professional is to assist the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional in every phase of the total golf operation.  This concept includes assuming full responsibility for the Golf Shop and its operation in the absence of the Head Golf Professional.

Qualifications:

Should be a P.G.A. Member or registered in the P.G.A. Apprentice program.  Must be willing to learn all aspects of teaching, merchandising, inventory control, handicapping, personnel management, tournament operations, satisfactory playing ability, and the rules of golf.  Must reflect a professional image at all times.

Responsibilities:

a.     Promote the game of golf.

b.     Aid the Golf Professional in every phase of the golf operation.

c.     Spread hospitality and goodwill to the Members and Guests.

d.     Teach and help to conduct golf clinics.

1. Play golf with the Members and work on golf game.
2. Responsible for daily golf shop operations and bookkeeping.  Operations duties include keeping an accurate tee sheet, managing daily golf shop personnel, and providing professional service.  Bookkeeping duties include maintaining a balanced daily ledger, closing daily books, and reporting daily sales and deposits.
3. Schedules golf shop staff and outside staff.
4. Coordinate the junior golf program.
5. Directly responsible for the coordination of all group play.
6. Assist with planning, conducting, and scoring golf tournaments and other golf-related activities.
7. Help to oversee all areas of the golf operation to assure proper performance.
8. Assist in keeping the Golf Shop neat and clean.
9.  Assist with inventory control.
10. Display and sell merchandise and hard goods.
11. Handle stock and special orders.
12. Answer phones and book tee times for Members, Guests and special events.
13. Assist with golf club repair.
14. Notify Maintenance of all upcoming events.
15. Attend P.G.A. Schools and Education Seminars.
16.  Responsible for all functions of the club’s handicap service.
17. Develop new ways of improving any part of the golf operation.

Working Conditions

1. 6 month position
2. Must be willing to work long hours, weekends and holidays during the summer season, May-October

Relationship:

a.     Work closely with the Head Golf Professional, Golf Shop Operations Merchandiser,  Golf Shop Staff, Outdoor Operations Staff, Golf Course Superintendent/Maintenance Staff, Rendezvous Club Manager and Chef and Beaver Creek Club Director.

b.     Attend golf-related staff meetings.

As a member of the Golf Management Team, the Assistant Golf Professional will be a part of the entire operation. They will assist in all areas including the golf shop, practice facility, golf services and golf car operations. The position will promote an exceptional "golf experience," and provide excellent services and programs for all patrons.
