Description

The Human Resources Coordinator provides exceptional administrative and technical assistance in support of the human resources function, including recruitment, retention, legal compliance, benefits administration, training and development and employee relations issues.  As the face of Home Instead, this team member must demonstrate our core value, Love (v.), in all interactions with internal and external customers and staff:  patience, kindness, humility, selflessness, respectfulness, forgiveness, honesty and commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the day-to-day human resources activities, including responding to internal and external inquiries, performing compliant human resources recordkeeping, and ensuring franchise standards are upheld
  • Stay abreast of industry trends as well as employment legislation to ensure organizational compliance with federal and state employment law
  • Create and maintain department standard operating procedures (SOPs) while continuously identifying ways to improve process efficiencies.  Communicate procedural updates to appropriate staff as necessary
  • Coordinate the employment process for administrative employees, which may include placing job advertisements, contacting candidates, scheduling interviews, administering selection assessments, completing background verifications and reference checks, and ensuring the accurate and timely completion and filing of all required new employee paperwork
  • Participate in employee engagement discussions and activities, including participation on the employee activity committee
  • Coordinate the administration of employee benefits, including new hire enrollments, newly eligible enrollments, life event changes, and the annual open enrollment period.  Assist with the design, evaluation and modification of benefits policies to ensure that programs are current, competitive, and in compliance with legal requirements, including the wellness program
  • Coordinate and administer COBRA insurance, ensuring timely and accurate processing of information according to procedures
  • Assist with FMLA administration in accordance with state and federal law
  • Coordinate activity around the training and development of staff, including recruiting best practices, administration of organizational policies and procedures, and management of employee relations issues
  • Help fulfill all reporting requirements of all relevant government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
  • Analyze and compile data from reports, such as employee turnover and retention.  Recommend methods to improve employment practices and processes to management
  • Participate in company safety initiatives, including attending injury review committee meetings and taking meeting minutes.  Organize and maintain all injury files accurately to support the workers’ compensation program
  • Assist leadership with employee relations issues, such as answering basic questions and supporting individual development initiatives
  • Maintain professional approach with confidentiality.  Assure protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or verbal disclosures
  • Adhere to company policies and practices, and comply with all state and federal regulations in all aspects of human resources management
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in a business field.  Human Resources degree, educational certification, or professional certification strongly preferred
  • One (1) year in a professional office setting
  • Highly positive attitude toward others and unexpected challenges
