The Provider Relations Advocate is responsible for the full range of provider relations and service interactions within UnitedHealth Group, including working on end-to-end provider claim and call quality, ease of use of physician portal and future service enhancements, and training & development of external provider education programs. Provider Relations Advocates design and implement programs to build and nurture positive relationships between the health plan, providers (physician and ancillary), and practice managers with a focus on training and education. Responsibilities also include directing and implementing strategies relating to the development and management of a provider network, identifying gaps in network composition and services to assist the network contracting and development staff in prioritizing contracting needs, and may also be involved in identifying and remediating operational short-falls and researching and remediating claims. This opportunity is a Calfornia telecommute based position and will focus on the San Diego market.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support Advocate initiatives to achieve measurable improvements in the provider service experience for the market
  • Support Provider issue resolution with internal teams and follow up with providers to close the loop of issues
  • Provide training and education to physician and ancillary providers across all  lines of business
  • Use pertinent data and facts to identify and solve a range of problems within are of expertise
  • Investigate non-standard requests and problems with some assistance form others
  • Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines
  • Travel for face to face visits with providers within the San Diego market

 


Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 3+ years of provider relations and/or provider network experience.

  • Experience with claims processing and issue resolution

  • 1+ years of experience with Medicare and Medicaid regulations

  • Experience creating and delivering presentations

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with Access, NDB, Nice, Pulse, Iset, Unet, Cosmos, Impact, and/or IBAAG
