Dollar Tree is currently looking to add experienced technicians to our talented maintenance team in our busy automated retail Distribution Center located in Joliet, IL.  This team ensures that the equipment operates at peak performance so that operations within the building run smoothly at all times.


We have opportunities with a variety of schedules available.

The Sr. Level Maintenance Technician at Dollar Tree performs preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and upgrades to conveyors systems, other machinery, structures, and electrical systems within the Distribution Center.

Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Makes safety a priority: follows set safety procedures and guidelines to maximize personal safety and the safety of all DC associates
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs according to procedures on equipment such as:
  • Lift trucks
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Material handling equipment
  • Hydraulic equipment
  • Dock equipment
  • Electronics
  • Electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical/electronic problems with equipment, networks, logic controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Motor Drives (Servo and VFD) and external Input/output (I/O) devices where the repair is not immediately visible or obvious.
  • Diagnose electrical problems using technical drawings (e.g. blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) and diagnostic tools (e.g. multi-meters, laptop)
  • Assist other maintenance technicians in the repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Mentor less experienced technicians
  • Initiating and implementing new procedures and creating designs to keep present equipment/systems operating at 100% efficiency
  • Develops knowledge base of different systems in use throughout the Distribution Center
  • Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment within the Maintenance department
  • Communicate effectively with the team; including customers, suppliers, and associates, both verbally and in writing to minimize downtime of equipment
  • Complete work orders, records, logs, and other written and/or computer-based documents according to established procedures
  • Operate material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment
  • Commit to ensuring workmanship is of the highest quality

Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent, trade school preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience repairing/maintaining mechanical or electrical equipment in an industrial or non-industrial setting OR two years related vocational training
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools operation
  • Ability to understand maintenance manuals and electrical equipment blueprints
  • Experience with 3-phase 480-volt industrial electrical systems and motor controls experience withPLC/Control systems, preferred
  • PLC/PC program knowledge and troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, relating technical issues to business leadership
  • Availability to perform shift work and must be willing to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
