The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for answering incoming calls/completing outbound calls to/from patients, physicians and pharmacists while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximizing productivity. Under supervision of Lead Pharmacy Technician and/or Pharmacy Director, performs designated technical and clerical tasks associated with the preparation, labeling and dispensing of medications, including sterile admixtures and prepackaged or unit dose drugs. In addition, performs designated tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, inventory control and preparation of orders for drugs.   Positions in this function perform various duties related to the fulfillment of prescription orders. Interprets physicians' prescriptions and creates order, accesses, inputs, and retrieves prescription information from computer system, verifies whether order is reimbursable. Dispenses any or all of the following: unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals and injectables; may compound medications. Consults with customers, patients and/or physicians regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions. Consultations may be telephonic or in person. Reviews and approves/denies requests for prescription prior authorizations. Pharmacists must have a current license without restrictions and Pharmacy Technicians must have current state license or national certification without restrictions based on regulatory requirements of worksite.   Primary Responsibilities: Entering prescriptions and verifying appropriate information Contacting patients, pharmacists and doctor's offices to resolve claims issues Processing prescriptions (from intake to order completion) Resolving customer issues; ensuring accurate information is providedConstantly meet established productivity, schedule adherence, and quality standards while maintaining a good attendance record Completes patient orders by selecting medications as indicated on the patient medication profile; assists in preparing and labeling of intravenous medication orders including total parenteral nutrition products using proper sterile and aseptic technique. Places medications in designated area for pharmacist to check, sends/delivers medications as required.Is knowledgeable with regard to the proper use and handling of hazardous medications. Compounds and handles hazardous medications in accordance with established guidelines and regulations (i.e. USP 797).Answers phones in a courteous and timely manner. Attends to customers in a timely manner. Assists in preparation of stat items investigating and preparing missing medications and serves as a bridges between the customer and the pharmacist.Reorders as necessary to maintain a continuous inventory of medications and supplies. Receives, checks in and restocks medications ordered through wholesaler and other vendors.Compounds specialty drug products. Uses aseptic technique when compounding sterile drug products. Completes accurate documentation of items compounded and repackaged.Performs quality control activities related to sterile compounding and the clean room per company policies.Is familiar with, and strives to meet, various guidelines and recommendations as put forth by various governing bodies. For example, completes documentation of refrigerator temperatures, IV hood cleaning, equipment maintenance and other activities as required.Works to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, State, Federal, OSHA and other regulatory standards. Follows all agency department policy and procedures. Ensures each admission meets admission criteria.Completes other projects and duties as assigned by Pharmacy management.Moderate work experience within own function.Some work is completed without established procedures.Basic tasks are completed without review by others.Supervision/guidance is required for higher level tasks.

Requirements: High school diploma or GED Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system application Available to work 40 hours per week and overtime as required according to the needs of the businessStart of employment is contingent upon successful State Pharmacy Technician Licensing and Registration within 90 days of hireAbility to work any schedule within the hours of operation (M-F 8am – 8pm) and on-call evenings, weekends, holidays as needed with a rotating schedule Assets: Pharmacy/ prescription data entry experience is preferred1+ year of Sterile compounding experience is preferred Soft Skills: Ability to remain focused and productive each day though tasks may be repetitive Physical Requirements and Work Environment:Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods of close vision looking at a computer monitorService center environment with moderate noise level due to Representatives talking, computers, printers, floor activityAbility to lift 0-10 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionallyTake the next step, online at: www.yourlifesbestwork.com
