KAIROS is currently looking to fill the position of Director of Human Resources.

Kairos is a non-profit, multi-service, mental health agency that provides a comprehensive array of services and support to children, adolescents, young adults, and families struggling with trauma and other mental and behavioral issues.  Known state-wide and nationally for innovation, quality, and accountability in its provision of services, Kairos commits itself to continuous learning and grounding of evidence based treatment models and emerging best practices in mental health through partnerships and training opportunities with leaders in the mental health field. Over its 39 years it has grown in scope and now operates out of 15 locations in five counties. Kairos is licensed by the Oregon Department of Human Services and certified by the Oregon Health Authority, and has been accredited by The Joint Commission since 1984.

As our HR Director and key leader in our organization, your tactical spirit and drive to excel in HR management plays a pivotal role in our business.  Not only will you be directly responsible for our organization's overall HR performance and effectiveness, you are also responsible for day to day HR management, including forecasting, strategic planning, staffing needs, budgeting, and training coordination.  As part of our leadership team, you will be hands on in solving challenges, developing opportunities and mining for creative and innovative solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Strategic:

  1. Builds and maintains a human resources infrastructure to support the growth of the Company.  Ensures that processes and procedures developed are a fit with Kairos' culture.
  2. Member of the Executive Management Team.  Attends EMT meetings and participates in the decision making and problem resolution processes. Participates in the development of the Company's plans and programs, particularly from the perspective of the impact on clients and employees. Translates the Company's strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategies and operational plans.
  3. Prepares personnel forecast to project employment needs, working closely with the Board and CEO. Develops staffing strategies and implements plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the corporation for positions of responsibility.
  4. Oversees development and monitoring of the Human Resource budget.  
  5. Develops compensation and benefits programs which provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance and which also support the Company's financial goals.
  6. Assesses the competitiveness of all compensation and benefits programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets. Ensures policies are in compliance with state and federal wage and hour regulations.
  7. Enhances organizational effectiveness by identifying and analyzing current circumstances, implementing organization development, providing training programs, developing and maintaining succession plans, and recommending new organization structures.

Administrative:

  1. Maintains consistency in the interpretation and execution of policies and procedures among all facilities and local work groups.  Builds rapport with team members. Documents and communicates actions and continuing needs. Obtains management team buy-in on new programs.
  2. Administers KAIROS' performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within Company.  Provides assistance to supervisors and managers to develop employee goals. 
  3. Oversees the Company's compliance by identifying and enforcing legal requirements, and ensures training is provided for completing requirements. Ensures required government reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  4. Develops Orientation training schedules, assigns trainers, and provides reports to managers regarding staff training needs.

    Supervisory:

  1. Leads, trains and develops Human Resource staff for maximum effectiveness. Performs all supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff, which may include scheduling and assigning work, training, hiring, and addressing, and/or documenting performance or disciplinary issues.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field;
  • 5-7 years of relevant, exempt level experience in HR Management.
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written) and leadership skills are required in order to work effectively with all levels in an organization and in a variety of industries.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple on-going projects are required to assure accurate and efficient performance of the job.
  • SPHR/PHR and/or Master's degree preferred;
  • Non-profit and/or mental health experience is ideal, but not required;
  • Additionally, a working knowledge of current Oregon Administrative rules and CPHQ certification is preferred.
