Position: Assembler B

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Manufacturing Team Manager, the Assembler ‘B’ is responsible for supporting shop floor initiatives including but not limited to organizing on a daily basis, communicating key actions required to the Cell Team Leader, and deliverables (includes safety, quality, 5S, and labor productivity) for the Operations group in accordance with company policies and procedures. Duties include:

  • Assemble, static test, and mount accessories to insure a quality end product is delivered to the customer.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to assure accurate assembly of pumps, accessories, valves and process equipment including preparation of components before assembly and testing, and inspection after completion at a normal level of efficiency to meet production standards.  
  • Inspect in-process assemblies and completed pumps, valves, and process equipment per the design specification, advising the Cell Team Leader, or Shift Leadperson of defects. Accurately complete all required data, time sheets, quantity of parts, etc.
  • Perform blast booth and paint preparation of all components, when required.
  • Advise the Cell Team Leader, or Shift Leadperson of time discrepancies relative to production rates, for all assemblies.
  • Produce product or perform work that will meet Weir’s efficiency and quality standards.
  • Perform daily maintenance (TPM) and housekeeping (5S) for machine and/or work area.
  • Advise the Cell Team Leader, or Shift Leadperson of potential plant, equipment, and safety problems.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is key to performance of this job.
  • Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, team oriented, and customer focused attitude within and between departments.
  • Attend training, safety, employee, and department meetings, as required.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all Operations Department and Company policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Keep the Manufacturing Team Manager aware of pertinent issues and information warranting their knowledge, action and/or resolution.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.      
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, ongoing improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety management and policy commitments as prescribed for this role in Weir''s Duty of Care.

Schedule: 2nd shift

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Knowledge of shop math. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Must have some mechanical background. Working knowledge of pneumatic and hand tools. Organization, communication, motivation, human relations, problem solving, and follow-through skills. Work well under pressure and with a diversity of people. Ability to promote and maintain positive relationships. Good work ethic - proactive. Requires the ability to operate a computer for basic e-mail and job log on and off activity. Basic hand tools, part measuring equipment, overhead and jib cranes, lifting chains and slings, pneumatic wrenches, chisels, and grinders.
