WHELAN SECURITY IS NOW HIRING

Whether you’re new to security or you’ve been in the field for a while, the Special Response Officer position is a great opportunity to learn and experience security the Whelan way. The majority of our sites are high-rise residential and commercial buildings located in the downtown Chicago area. Our officers specialize in customer service, access control, flexibility, and positivity. Special Response Officers must have the ability to fill in for open posts, call offs, vacations, sick days, etc. for our security officers and security supervisors. The position requires open availability to work first, second and third shifts on any day of the week (Sunday-Saturday). This is a union position with a starting pay rate of $12 per hour. While we cannot guarantee the amount of hours, most of our current Special Response Officers work 30+ hours per week.

You would be a great fit for this position if you:
  • Have a demonstrated history of welcoming and engaging customers in a professional, upbeat, and polite manner
  • Embrace a flexible work schedule
  • Take initiative to provide excellent service and escalate to managers as necessary
  • Have basic computer experience
  • Are able to write clear and accurate reports

Qualifications

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Demonstrate a stable work history
  • Pass an extensive background screening which includes, but is not limited to, criminal background checks (local, state and federal), drug test, aptitude tests, skills assessment, interviews, and personality profile (behavioral assessment)
  • MUST have a PERC prior to applying
  • MUST have a 20 Hour Certificate prior to applying


Education

Candidates must meet the following educational requirements:
  • Possess at least a high school education or equivalent (GED)
