Job Description

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Operators give the Army National Guard the bird’s eye view necessary to maintain our tactical superiority in the field. And to think, you’ve probably been training for it since you were a kid! UAV Operators use unmanned remote-control observation aircraft outfitted with the equipment needed to observe the enemy. In this role, you will be a trained Intelligence Specialist with the ability to recognize tell-tale signs of enemy activity and how to conduct air reconnaissance that provides the most valuable information for our Soldiers in the field. The skills you learn will also prepare you for a civilian career! UAV Operators have gone on to Federal Government agencies such as the Central Intelligence Agency or the National Security Agency following their service. The training you receive in collecting, recording, analyzing, and distributing tactical and technical intelligence information will also prepare you for other fields, such as research or business planning. Earn while you learn Get paid to learn! In the Army National Guard, you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. Job training for a UAV Operator consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 23 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

Most non-prior service candidates will earn between $196.26 and $254.91 per drill weekend.Programs and benefits are subject to change.
