Position Summary


The National Director Sales is responsible for developing and leading consultative business relationships with the Sales Leadership Team of a National Client. The position is responsible for achieving KPI targets, scorecarding results and leveraging business scorecards to drive performance, generating new business growth opportunities, problem solving as necessary, and managing a team of BDMs to achieve and over-achieve client goals and objectives.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities


Client KPIs Achievement
• In conjunction with the team of BDMs, ensure that a plan is in place to achieve KPIs and create “raving fans” of client contacts
• Communicate and measure all KPI performance to the BDM level – identify opportunities and possible solutions
• Achieve and exceed client sales goals and MPC commission budget by ensuring all Clients’ brand marketing and Customer strategies are implemented

• Maximize all available client bonus by assuring all regions achieve individual incentive targets


People Development


• Lead Manager of Client Services in support of all efforts and develop for future roles.
• Manage staffing priorities so that workload utilization is maximized. Engage associates so they are part of the ongoing solution. Set and communicate clear expectations.
• Manage talent to meet future business needs by identifying high potentials within the team, create and implement individual development plans for high potentials, and effectively manage associates who are not satisfactorily achieving ASM, client and/or customer performance/business objectives


Business/Category Reviews and Customer Relationships


• Assist market and customer business teams with the development of sales presentations for key customer opportunities and business building ideas
• Utilize syndicated data (i.e. Nielsen, IRI, Spectra, etc.) as well as internal ASM tools such as SOE, COE and ARTS retail reporting)
• Work with BDMs to build and nurture strong customer relationships at the mid to senior level of the organization; help sales associates establish a pattern of regular communication and business reviews to create “raving fans” of our customers

Retail Integration


• Partner with retail leadership to ensure all headquarter initiatives are effectively and timely executed at store level
• Ensure retail investment is delivering high ROI on the client’s behalf for assigned customers

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct Reports

- Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports
- May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

- Travel and Driving are essential duties and function of this job



Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job
Education Level: (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

(Preferred) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Sales

- 10+ years of experience in sales, consumer goods and food brokerage organization or equivalent
-5+ years previous experience with managing direct reports

Office / Sedentary Requirements


Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
