Responsibilities

The Remote Telephone Interviewers will conduct phone interviews for our survey projects on a variety of subjects directly from their home office. The Interviewer will use a company issued laptop to contact study participants, provide information and answer questions about assigned projects, conduct interviews with selected respondents, schedule appointments, obtain contact information, participate in scheduled conferences with the manager, and complete all administrative tasks using the laptop.

  • Conduct telephone interviews for multiple research studies following a scripted questionnaire verbatim while using computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) applications to gather and record responses
  • Collect accurate, consistent and reliable data
  • Record and code data collected
  • Assist with locating and refusal conversion
  • Assist with other duties as assigned, such as mail preparation, faxing, filing, etc.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 6 months of experience in survey research, outside sales, or community/social work.
  • Experience with desktop computers and typing required
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Customer service experience preferred; preferably in a government agency, hospitality, financial/banking, or professional office setting
  • Must be able to communicate with survey respondents and co-workers in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Must be willing and able to follow specific directions and established procedures; strict interviewing guidelines; and demonstrated ability to recognize problems and request supervisor assistance

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be able to work 20-30 hours per week, especially during the following times: evenings (6pm-9pm ET), late evenings (9pm-12am ET) and weekends (Sat. 10am-6pm ET, Sun. 2pm - 10pm ET) must be able to work evenings and at least one weekend shift per week. Ability to work Memorial Day weekend a must.
  • Available to start Training on April 10, 2017. Project is completed on June 2, 2017.
  • Ability to travel to Columbia, MD office, as requested.
  • Proven track record of reliability, technical competence, and performance.
  • Ability to successfully complete a web-based self-study and group webinar training's prior to starting work.
  • Proficiency with troubleshooting and using computers. Including but not limited to the ability to accessing the Internet, using the keyboard, and navigating a computer-based program.
  • Comfortable communicating with people with a diverse population and socioeconomic groups.
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to convey the importance of the study to respondents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently

Candidates are responsible for having the following home equipment:

- Land line phone service (Cell phones and Satellite internet/phone service - such as Dish Network, not permitted).

- Features (e.g. call waiting, voice mail, call forwarding, etc.) must be disabled during work hours

- Long distance service is NOT required - A wired high speed internet connection (cable, DSL or fiber optic only) with a minimum of 10 mbps download and upload speeds

- Connection must be hard-wired with Ethernet cable connection during working hours. Use of wireless routers, WIFI, not permitted

- A corded telephone with a hands-free corded headset (cordless phones and Bluetooth headsets are not permitted).

- A quiet, private, and secure work space to conduct interviews (does not have to be a dedicated office, but work environment must be quiet and secure during work hours, including training).
