ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Utilizes nursing process which includes patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning of nursing care, implementing interventions, and evaluation of patient status in relationship to the above.
* Executes regimen prescribed by physician within guidelines of nursing practice.
* Performs and/or supervises activities/functions which require knowledge and skill level currently ascribed to the Registered Nurse and seeks assistance when these are beyond scope of preparation.
* Provides leadership and direction in the supervision of others in carrying out the nursing process.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS (SECONDARY):
* Activities, functions, or interventions which do not necessarily require a Registered Nurse to perform (i.e. tray distribution, feed patients, transport patient, bathe patients, stock patient rooms with supplies).
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
* BLS, ACLS, other required certifications
* Current Iowa Registered Nurse License at time of hire
* Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association.
* Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
* Obtains education required for license renewal.
* Continuously updates knowledge of nursing procedure and theory.
* Mandatory Reporter
* Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population
served within three (3) months of hire and recertify every 5 years.
Long Term Care -- completed within 30 days of hire.
* Failure to obtain and/or maintain above required certifications may result in disciplinary action including suspension and/ or termination of employment.
