Position Summary

Responsible for providing leadership for effective planning, development, implementation and on-going administration of the operational and technical aspects of neurophysiology services within CHI St. Luke's Hospital; Responsible for ensuring the highest quality patient care for adolescent, adult and elderly patients. Accountable for all facets of budgeting, capital acquisition, recruitment and retention, staffing, purchasing, inventory control, equipment maintenance and service contract management. Additionally, will act as a liaison in neurophysiology initiatives within the department and with other departments in and throughout the Health System. Will also partner with other departments within and with appropriate personnel at the Texas Medical Center (TMC) campus to ensure that the highest quality neurophysiology services are provided to patients.

Bachelor's Degree

R. EEG T.;R. EP T. registries and/or CNIM certification

Position Responsibilities

1. Assume a leadership role responsible in part for coordinating activities regarding quality, fiscal management, budgeting, and business development

2. Assist in the planning, development and implementation of an overall strategic business plan for the area of responsibility

3. Develop and assist in the development of programs (symposiums, publications) to establish CHI St. Luke's as a recognized leader in innovative patient care and cost-effective outcomes

4. Provide for the development and management of operating and capital budgets for area of responsibility, including directing creative strategies to lower costs while maintaining or enhancing quality; Responsible for overall performance according to budget. 5. Perform resource management Functions including recruitment and retention of highly qualified employees, performance review and staff education and career development initiatives and, when necessary, termination of employment with appropriate approval.

6. Implementation and on-going administration of a shared decision making mode

7. Participate in both short and long range planning for the assigned areas, developing new procedures with appropriate CPT codes, choosing capital equipment and determining FTE requirement

8. Monitor and approve supply expenditures including cost/benefit analysis and competitive bidding for capital equipment.

9. Ensure that all quality control programs, including audits and accreditation standards, are maintained in accordance with JCAHO, and other applicable regulatory agencies

10. Establishes volume targets and related strategies. Monitor performance, recommend and implement corrective action plans

11. Constantly interacts, facilitates and Coordinates staff, coordinating clinical and technical operations in the areas of responsibility in accordance with institutional, state and federal standard

12. Review, establish and revise department policies and procedure, as necessary, to ensure continuity in compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.

13. Ensure that exceptional customer service is modeled and provided by all members of the area of responsibility to patients, family, visitors, co-workers and physicis.

14. Maintains current knowledge of devices and tests available for neurophysiology

15. Prioritizes patient care activities and Provides guidance and supervision of clerical, technical, and other staff who function at a diverse range of responsibly.

16. Assure clinical records and databases are maintained at the highest order of accuracy and completeness while taking active steps to assure patient confidentiality is always maintained.

17. Ensure appropriate space and resource allocation within the areas of responsibility, prioritizing resource needs based on the goals of the organization as a whole, as well as areas of responsibility

18. Participate in the planning, design and, as needed, the construction required for new and replacement equipment, ensuring the appropriate implementation of new or enhanced progms.

19. Work closely with the Health Systems Information Management team to ensure timely and complete capture of all neurophysiologic testing as well as network transmission of data

20. With the IM team identifies, designs, investigates, and Prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems within all clinical operational areas. Act as liaison between Neurophysiology Services and other departments

21. Work in concert with Health System directors and managers of Radiology, Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine, Telemedicine and Respiratory Care to coordinate strategic planning for patient care initiative

22. Oversee activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new systems within

23. Serve as a focal point of communication between members of all areas of responsibility, including, but not limited to, physicians, nurses, administrative staff, other shifts, and supportive personnel

24. Continually enhance professional competence, from both a clinical and a management perspective. Participate in professional and community organization

25. Actively participate in inter-disciplinary teams and committees within and the Health System.
