POSITION SUMMARY

Provides strategic leadership and management oversight for the Department of Pharmacy. Responsibilities include: effective resource utilization, short and long range planning, program and policy development, implementation and evaluation. Monitors metrics to validate performance against national and system benchmarks to ensure the delivery of competent clinical practice is consistently achieved. Provides strategic leadership to a multi-disciplinary team. Responsible for all aspects of management of the ambulatory services and service lines including planning, organizing, directing and evaluating of program and staff. Effectively and efficiently manages human resources, non-personnel operating resources, capital assets and operating revenue for all areas of responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Education: Master's degree is required

* Minimum Experience: Seven (7) years hospital pharmacy leadership experience

* Completion of post graduate Pharmacy Residency preferred

* Registered Pharmacist with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy in good standing-(RPH) or eligible for Texas license is preferred

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provides strategic operational, financial and staff management of Clinical and Administrative operations for the Department of Pharmacy.

* Promotes evidence-based practice model of care delivery and a culture that recognizes clinical excellence

* Provides leadership and direction to leaders of assigned areas. Ensures availability of required resources

* Supports continual, cost effective improvement in patient care in collaboration with the other leaders

* Identifies quality improvement initiatives and oversees implementation to improve patient care services

* Fosters multi-disciplinary approach to quality improvement with a focus on coordination of services and enhanced clinical outcomes

* Ensures regulatory compliance

* Functions as a member of the leadership team, participates in the decision making structures and processes to ensure delivery of appropriate nursing and patient care

* Identifies and articulates the common needs and viewpoints of nurses and patient care staff to appropriate decision making groups and communicates the implications of environmental changes at the patient care level to hospital leadership

* Participates with leaders in developing, reviewing and ensuring the mission, strategic plans, budgets and policies are carried out

* Develops and maintains effective communications with physicians and key stakeholders

* Evaluates performance of the pharmacy department and the oncology service lines, ensuring operations are coordinated and strategically aligned

* Establishes strategic operational goals and objectives to guide operations and to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration in ambulatory care, service line, and related programs
