Job Summary:

The Clinical Supervisor/Lead Cancer Navigator will offer clinical supervision to the Radiation, Oncology, and Infusion Center departments. They will guide patients through the oncology care system, establishing contact with newly diagnosed cancer patients and/or family member, or caregiver. They will nderstand the clinical care options for cancer and will direct the patients to health care services within the organization, within the community for timely diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively identify and address barriers to care that might keep the patient from receiving timely and appropriate treatment for their cancer diagnosis.
  • Connects patients with resources, health care and support services in their communities and assist the patient and physicians in the transition from screening to diagnosis and the active treatment throughout the cancer continuum.
  • Direct supervisory experience over the radiation, oncology, and infusion center departments.


Education and Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of navigation experience
  • Minimum of three years of clinical supervisory experience.
  • Completion of an accredited RN program, Baccalaureate degree required/ master's degree preferred.
  • Current California RN License.
  • OCN and BLS. Five years oncology nursing experience necessary.
  • Knowledge of cancers, pathophysiology, etiology, risk factors, characteristics, diagnostic measures and rehabilitation required.
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in cancer care including staging, treatment and survivorship preferred.
  • Knowledge of cancer prevention and detection: current practices in cancer nursing: outcome standards, nursing management of disease prevention, psychological response, treatment, and common signs and symptoms of complications preferred.
