Position Summary
The paralegal will be based in Marriott’s worldwide corporate headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, and will report to a Managing Paralegal on the Americas Lodging legal team. This team is part of the larger Americas Lodging and Global Services practice group that includes Marriott’s Intellectual Property legal team.
The Americas Lodging legal team helps Marriott achieve business objectives through the group’s understanding of key relationships arising from Marriott’s system of more than 700 Marriott-managed and more than 2,800 Marriott-franchised hotels in the United States and Canada. The Americas Lodging legal team represents Marriott in these relationships and also works with various Marriott corporate departments and disciplines on a wide variety of system-wide issues and initiatives.
The paralegal I will primarily provide direct transactional support (a) on issues arising from existing franchise agreements and management agreements (such as interpretations, amendments, or terminations) and (b) for hotel owner transactions (such as sales and financings of hotels and ownership restructurings).

Specific Job Summary:
The paralegal will be an integral part of the team and will:
- Work directly with Marriott business leaders.
- Draft documents, using standard forms and templates.
- Communicate with representatives of hotel owners and hotel lenders, including sending them draft documents, receiving and reviewing their comments, negotiating changes, reviewing organizational due diligence, and coordinating the finalization and execution of the documents.
- Update database to reflect executed transactions.
- Undertake special assignments, including research, review, and analysis of contract documentation and other issues.
Candidate Profile
- Two-year college degree required, Four-year college degree preferred
- Certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program strongly preferred
- Minimum of one year of relevant work experience
- Good drafting and negotiating skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong business ethics and personal integrity
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of issues, and effectively resolve problems
- Ability to identify and assess key issues
- Strong interpersonal skills
