An Engineer II designs, develops, and tests the manufacture and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university and three years of related experience
    • OR at least five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • A specialty in Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering is desirable but not essential
  • The ability to read, analyze and interpret safety rules, company policies, OSHA and production SOE's
  • Create databases to measure identified variables and outputs of the product
  • Ability to work in a team environment with production operators, supervisors, and managers
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers in a professional environment
  • Will be required to write technical documents and train team members
  • Must have knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of electronic components and process controls
  • Ability to work with standard math functions, average and standard deviation
  • Must be familiar with root cause analysis and data collection methods
  • Lead team in corrective actions addressing opportunities for improvement
  • Perform time study analysis and recognize work balance solutions from the data
  • Create production cell and plant layouts in AutoCAD
  • Ability to perform tool design and analysis in AutoCAD and/or Solid Works a plus

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position supports an industrial manufacturing environment and the candidate must have the ability to work hands-on to support these operations.  Must be flexible to support a two-shift operation and new product and process implementation.  Will be required to work the same shift schedule as the departments you are supporting, unless other arrangements are made.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Maintain AutoCAD layout of production cells and facility
  • Implement process improvements of manufacturing operation to address quality, efficiency, and throughput opportunities
  • Perform safety and ergonomic analysis of operations and develop corrective actions to improve safety performance
  • Review operational processes, identify proper safety requirements and ergonomic cell design
  • Perform time studies and identify work pattern solutions
  • Data mine databases and spreadsheets to track performance and identify trends or opportunities for improvement
  • Support launch of new product and processes, develop and document process steps and controls, specify and design new equipment or tooling as needed
  • Generate databases as needed to track metrics
  • Designs equipment, components, systems, instruments, and products
  • Works with vendors and manufacturers to design and develop products and implement a cost-effective design
  • Plans and implements research methodology and procedures related to engineering projects
  • Prepares and analyzes technical drawings, specifications, and maps to ensure installations and operations conform standards and customer requirements
  • Performs detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, installation, and maintenance standards and specifications
  • Coordinates manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
  • Estimates cost of labor, materials, equipment, construction, etc.; prepares reports
  • Assignments may include sub-sectional responsibility and may be across disciplines
