Assist Director of Maintenance and Golf Course Superintendent in managing and maintaining golf course properties, including the golf course and surrounding areas, maintenance equipment, golf cars, clubhouse grounds, and the sod farm/nursery.  Train, direct and supervise greenstaff.   Assist in planning maintenance and project work to achieve long-range goals.  Oversee scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish daily work.  Keep accurate and complete records on maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.   Requires knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles/practices/methods, and an understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.  Requires some administrative ability, especially problem solving and decision making, excellent oral and written communication skills.  Position requires post secondary education in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turf Grass Management or related field.  Will consdier applicants without post secondary education with 10+ years of golf maintenance experience with extensive knowledge in irrigtion maintenance and leading staff in the completion of daily maintenance and golf course projects.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Train, direct and supervise Golf Maintenance Lead, Irrigation Tech and Greenstaff
  • Schedule and assign routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish daily work.
  • Assist in the conceptualization and implementation of special projects
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
  • Communicate regularly with Director of Maintenance, Golf Course Superintendent and Golf Professional  to discuss activities, plans, goals, and member/guest input.

 

Requirements:

  • Requires a degree in turf grass management  and knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles/practices/methods, and an  understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf. 
  • MS Word, Excel, Inter and intra net, email computer skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Previous work in Golf Course Maintenance supervisory/management
  • Previous supervisory experience – preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication – required
