The Senior Legal Services Specialist is responsible for a variety of legal support roles.  This position will provide support to our Medicare & Retirement Benefit Operations Attorneys with 1) analyzing  contracts; 2) Providing support for governmental reviews and audits, including CMS Audits; 3) legal research involving federal statutes; and 4) coordination of materials for claim, eligibility and other inquiries from clients and third parties.  This role will have a level of interaction with internal clients, and external vendors to provide updates and answer questions around contracts, audits and legal issues.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Identify appropriate sources to research information related to a legal matter (e.g., implications of new regulations) or that impact the business
Monitor developments in a particular area that may impact existing projects in collaboration with Compliance/Regulatory Team (e.g., Federal regulations)
Research applicability of laws, regulations, and other requirements to cases, contracts, or decisions
Analyze data to make conclusions and summarize data analysis
Summarize and interpret legal research under the guidance / oversight of an attorney
Present results of analyses in writing and/or verbally in individual or group settings
Manage Customer / Counsel / Vendor Relationships

Requirements


Required Qualifications:    

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
Paralegal certificate
5+ years of experience in a litigation setting, or similar experience with complex dispute resolution in an insurance setting  
Intermediate level of proficiency in Word, Excel & PowerPoint  
Experience with customer service
Proficient in Westlaw and/or Lexis-Nexis
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in healthcare or working with the healthcare industry
