Position Objective:

The position is responsible for supervising plant production, including scheduling, organizing and implementing the production workload, purchasing, managing inventory, coordinating logistical needs with various departments and meeting production standards and product specifications. This position will supervise the LPK operations in a manner that minimizes costs; meets or exceeds food safety and quality specifications, laws, and requirements; while adhering to company policies and providing an environment that promotes work safety and high employee morale.

Essential Functions:

Food Safety and Quality:

· Maintain the facility and equipment in accordance with company policies, the law, GMPs and Quality Management System requirements and guidelines; including supervising clean-up and sanitation as well as training and monitoring Good Manufacturing Practices and the HACCP program

Plant Operations and Controls

  • Supervise compliance with company, customer, law, and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Check inventory of packaging and raw materials; including monitor future and current packaging and raw material needs
  • Make recommendations on alternative packaging and raw materials resources in order to minimize costs
  • Understand all formulations and supervise mix adjustments to accommodate raw material, environmental, and other variances that may affect the finished product; including supervise formula versus batch quantities and accuracy
  • Supervises multiple work centers within the LPK while establishing and communicating production priorities and monitoring variances, quality and timeliness of work
  • Supervise and insure production control paperwork is properly filled out; document downtime and take the corrective action to minimize it, including providing technical guidance and information as required
  • Responds to audit results, supervise special projects and assists in testing new products
  • Creates vendors monthly pricing reports and prepares, monthly pricing request, and analyzes bids; executes buys
  • Secures desired quantities and varieties of raw materials and manages and coordinates physical inventories
Personnel Management and Leadership:
  • Develop and implement weekly bakery manpower scheduling; coach employees to improve performance all while prioritizing and assign work as required
  • Builds team spirit and group orientation; supports the needs of individual team members
  • Develops effective working relationships and fosters a work environment reflecting mutual respect and trust
  • Respects and promotes cultural and ethnic diversity in the work force
  • Displays a commitment and dedication to produce work of the highest quality in a timely manner while exercising sound judgment and maturity in carrying out job responsibilities

Safety:
  • Acts as the Safety Monitor for the LPK; prepares safety performance reports and coordinates risk and safety inspections
  • Prepares accident reports for the bakery
Requirements & Education:

· Read, write and communicate effectively in English with all levels of the organization. Bilingual in Spanish a plus

· Physical requirements:

a. Be physically able to work an eight (8) hour day while on your feet.

b. Climbing, reaching, walking, sitting, grasping, repetitive motions, visual acuity, hearing and a great deal of smiling.

c. Able to bend and lift up to 50 lbs.

d. Work standing up for sustained periods of up to 4 hours.

e. Represent the Brand by maintaining a professional appearance.

· Minimum of 5 years previous production bakery experience of at least 2 years at the supervisor or manager level
  • Thorough understanding of bakery physical and technical sciences
· HACCP certification and Safe Serve Certification

· Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
