Job Description

If only those X-ray glasses advertised in comic books actually worked, medical professionals would be able to determine if a bone is broken. But fortunately for you and your future, you can be the next best thing as a Radiology Specialist.

Radiology (the use of X-rays) is one of the many tools doctors use to detect injuries and illnesses. Working with Medical Corps Officers, Radiology Specialists operate X-ray and X-ray-related equipment to perform radiographic examinations. Radiology Specialists also prepare, assemble, and adjust X-ray instruments and materials, and assemble and disassemble radiology equipment and shelters.

Health care related fields are some of the most wide open and promising career fields available today. Use your Radiology Specialists experience to prepare for a future as an X-ray technologist or a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with civilian hospitals, diagnostic clinics, and medical laboratories. You may also be able to specialize in other radiology disciplines and obtain certifications through continued study and experience. Certain restrictions apply and specific educational criteria must be met.

Earn while you learn
Instead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to train. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.

Job training for Radiology Specialists consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 24 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training consists of both classroom and field work.
