Description:

Provides nursing care according to thenursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementing andevaluating.  Implements appropriatenursing care interventions.  Administersmedications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and establishednursing policies and procedures.  Delivercare based on defined standards of patient care and nursing evidence-basedpractice.

 

Assumes responsibility for acquiringknowledge and skills necessary for patient care in the identified practicesetting.

Performs assessment and analyzes patientproblems and conditions using critical decision making to determine need forstandard, urgent or emergent interventions.

Implements and/or modifies plan of care usingassessment data, standards of care and evidence based practice inclusive ofnursing care coordination, appropriate patient and family education, anddischarge planning.  Facilitatesinterdisciplinary partnership in patient care.

Integrates ethical provisions in nursingpractice and delivers care in a manner that preserves and protects patientautonomy, dignity and rights.

Evaluates progress towards attainment ofdesired patient outcomes.

Demonstrates effective on-going observationsand reassessment of patient/family and their response to the interventions andchanges in condition.

Practices patient experience best practicesof AIDET, Hourly Rounding, Use of the White Board as minimalexpectations.  May also practice bedside shift report and other bestpractices required by facility.

Documents assessments and interventions inaccordance with hospital policy and standards of care.

Performs all aspects of patient care in anenvironment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood ofmedical/health care errors.  Demonstratesknowledge of proper identification of and reporting of medical/healthcareerrors.  Protects the patient in theevent of a medical/health care error.

Utilizes resources appropriately and followsfacility guidelines for documentation and charging of medical supplies andequipment.

Assigns or delegates tasks to designatedsupport personnel based on needs and conditions of the patient, complexity ofthe task, predictability of the outcome and facility policy.

Collaborates with new employees and peers tosupport orientation, training and development opportunities.  Supports the profession of nursing throughsupport for nursing student clinical activities, as appropriate.

 

Qualification:

Education /Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred)\:   Current RN license in the State of Kentucky;BSN preferred.  BLS required. 

Newhire RNs have 2 years from hire date to enroll in BSN program and it must becompleted within 5 years of hire. 

Experience (requiredand preferred)\:   Graduate of an accredited school of nursingrequired.
