Job Description:

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of costuming services for Hersheypark resident entertainment and the Hersheypark costume character program.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise all aspects of costuming services for Hersheypark resident shows.
  • Act as liaison with internal Entertainment team, costume design and build shops
  • Assist the external costume builder with the fitting process, from gathering measurements to assisting on site
  • Oversee the daily care and maintenance of the costumes during the run of the shows
  • Make critical decisions related to the repair and or replacement of active costumes during the run of the shows
  • As required, design and build costumes and costume character accessories for specialty performers that are required for special events such as press conferences, concerts, caterings, seasonal events, etc.
  • Manage the ongoing inventory of costumes using the inventory management software
  • Supervise the Hersheypark costume shop operation.
  • Interview, hire, train, schedule, and supervise a seasonal staff of wardrobe supervisors and dressers
  • Order all supplies necessary to ensure that the costume shop is equipped with the proper materials and equipment for normal operation
  • Ensure that the costume shop and all other wardrobe areas are maintained in an organized and orderly fashion
  • Maintain all Hershey’s Product Character and Mascot costumes.
  • Oversee the daily care and maintenance of the character/mascot costumes throughout the year
  • Work with the Entertainment team to order costumes and accessories as necessary in order to maintain the inventory needed for all characters/mascots
  • Maintain the Costume Character room in a clean and organized fashion

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age on the day of applying for the Supervisor position, prefer 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or have comparative education (ie GED)
  • Must have worked at least one year in the Entertainment department, or have one year of supervisory experience.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer some costume design experience
  • Must have extensive knowledge of sewing (hand and machine)
  • Must have altering and tailoring experience
  • Must have experience working as a dresser
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong guest resolution and problem solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must be friendly, upbeat, and work well with other employees and be able to interact with our guests
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work for your scheduled shifts
  • Must be able to speak, write, and understand English
  • Must display a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and professional image in compliance with the Hershey Entertainment & Resorts guidelines. Please note some departments may be more stringent on the appearance guidelines due to business need
  • Must have the ability to safeguard confidential information

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work a minimum of four (4) days per week throughout the summer season to include a rotation of mornings and evenings
  • Must be able to work in combination of indoor and outdoor weather conditions
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and communicating
  • Should be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
