The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology is recruiting for a pediatric trained Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner to join our practice of 9 physicians and 2 nurse practitioners. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide clinical care for children and young adult patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as well as patients with endocrine disorders, including growth and pubertal disorders, and disorders of sexual development. For those practitioners new to the specialty, we will provide education, training, and mentoring. Our team includes 3 nurses, 4 RD-CDE providers, and 1 social worker. Expectations of the position include the following: * Treat and evaluate patients with childhood illnesses and promote the health of the child and the family * Analyze medical histories, diagnostic lab test and x-ray results, and perform physical examinations * Consult with attending physicians to decide patient referrals and monitor outcomes * Coordinate patient care with team members, other departments, and community agencies and provides as necessary * Practice preventive healthcare through patient and family education and child health advocacy * Participate in peer review, development, and consultation * Participate in special programs and services as assigned (such as patient advisory groups) * Demonstrates knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice * Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families * Demonstrates support for the mission, values, and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CCMC standards Registered and Certified Physician Assistant or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of 2 years experience in pediatrics required. * Ability to manage complex family issues and provide patient/family teaching and discharge planning. * Willing to work flexible hours/days to meet the needs of patients and programs and services. * Proven commitment to providing pediatric healthcare in an urban community-based setting. * Bilingual and bicultural in English and Spanish preferred.
