Summary of Position:
The Shift Lead is responsible for supporting the management in the operation of the restaurant, with a focus on leading and developing a team of employees in effectively performing their daily tasks while maintaining high standards for food, service, and health and safety.  The incumbent helps with ordering, inventory control and submission of reports.

Essential Duties:
1.    Ensures that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other aspects of guest service.
2.    Maintains an awareness of all menu items.
3.    Checks orders for accuracy and portion control.
4.    Adheres to food safety and sanitation guidelines. 
5.    Cooks and prepares food in a fast-paced safe and efficient environment.
6.    Maintains high food quality and attractive food appearance, made according to Jersey Mikes product specifications. Manage the quality production of all food while meeting ticket time standards and minimizing food waste
7.    Cleans and maintain kitchen appliances such as, but not limited to griddles and slicers.  
8.    Works in cooperation with other Jersey Mike’s Team Members.
9.    Answers phones according to standards.
10.    Fully cross trained and can work effectively in all positions
11.    Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes of food and supplies which entails lifting, and performing all functions as set forth in the project description
12.    Accurate verification of daily line check standards
13.    Performs functions on the POS and computer as needed to complete the shift’s operations and end of shift paperwork; these responsibilities should only be used during shift leader assigned shifts
14.    Adheres to proper cash handling procedures
15.    Enforce company policies and procedures during operations 
16.    Ensure adequate staffing during shift to meet guest experience standards and labor goal requirements

Health and Safety Standards:
1.    Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in working condition through inspection and preventive maintenance care.
2.    Maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment.
3.    Complies with all federal, state, local and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, labor and PLCB laws and requirements.
4.    Maintain the 95 health report grade.
5.    Must maintain good personal hygiene. No gum chewing, use of tobacco products or talking on the cell phone while on duty.

Supervision Received:
This position reports to the Assistant General Manager and/or General Manager of Mohegan Restaurant (JMSubs), LLC 

Supervision Exercised:
Directs staff as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lead by example with peers.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work in a team-focused environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs 
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact with team members and guests to resolve service concerns 
  • Ability to accurately complete all documentation and process payment transactions needed to complete the shift’s operations and end of shift paperwork and adhere to proper cash handling procedures. 
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Previous supervisory experience in restaurant or retail customer service/guest services required.
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job

Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • One  (1) year of high-volume restaurant supervisory experience, including some experience in a quick service or fast casual dining environment
  • Experience with revenue and expense accounts and impact on store profitability

Additional Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be available to work a flexible full time schedule, rotating AM/PM shifts and days including weekends and holidays.
