POSITION SUMMARY:
Charter Advanced Mediation and Rating (AM&R) systems supports pricing and tracking of customers internet and phone usage. Charter is looking for an Application Administration Engineer to provide operational support for the AM&R systems. The engineer will also design, develop and configure tools, such as dashboards and monitoring solutions, to assist with analysis of key performance metrics of the AM&R systems, applications and their associated operating systems and databases.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Installs, administers, configures and maintains AM&R applications (Digital Phone, CABS, WiFi, HSD, Cloud Messaging), including operating systems and related software
Provides 'on call' support to resolve AM&R issues after normal business hours
Deploy software releases during maintenance windows - outside normal business hours - using established change management processes
Works with database administrators to configure, tune and maintain databases
Documents systems processes, procedures and configurations
Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, and storage resources
Assist with the design and construct of enhancements of monitoring tools
Generates reports on server and application availability and performance
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Requires strong interpersonal, problem solving, troubleshooting, and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work closely with all levels of management. A strong IT background is a must with key understanding of UNIX, Linux, Shell Scripting, networking essentials such as TCP/IP, routing, firewall concepts and strong SQL skills. Experience in enterprise monitoring skill a plus (HPOV, Site scope and mercury products). Ability to translate monitoring metrics into reports and impacts to operations. Self-motivated with abilities to represent the Advanced Mediation and Rating operations team in key meetings. Capable of translating post mortems into actionable work items executing on them. On an as needed basis, required to work during off hours and weekends in support of incidents and outages. Ability to manage on call schedule and respond accordingly. Prior operations support a must.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
System administration experience (UNIXl) 2 - 4 years
Database support experience 3 - 5 years
Enterprise Application experience 3 - 5 years
