About this job

The Card Services Machine operator is responsible for operating card personalization equipment, card - attaching machines, card counters, magnetic stripe testing equipment, banding machines, and shrink wrap machines.  Operators will also package and inspect finished products.

Essential Responsibilities -

  1. Operator reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to prioritize daily work. 
  2. Maintains a clean work environment and cleans machinery before and during each shift.
  3. Completes work orders and other required paperwork as needed to complete production orders.
  4. Reviews job specifications and requirements prior to starting each order.
  5. Operator loads production data to various personalization machine controllers by following detailed procedures.
  6. Changes production supplies as needed to correctly complete production orders on various machines.
  7. Analyzes and reports any non-conforming products, supplies, and inventory problems to the production lead, supervisor, or manager.
  8. Operator verifies quality on various cards throughout each production order and requests verification from co-workers.

Ancillary Responsibilities -

  1. Adhere to monitor and enforce all CPI Audit/Security requirements.
  2. Adhere to monitor and enforce all requirements of the CPI Quality Management System Program (ISO).
  3. Adhere to monitor and enforce all requirements of the CPI Safety Program.
  4. Must be able to work flexible hours as required.

Requirements -

Production Operator I

  • Basic math skills
  • Basic Computer skills (ability to load job files onto machines)
  • Some knowledge of QC Equipment
  • Ability to do basic setup functions on machines.
  • Certified on at least one piece of equipment
  • Understand roles and responsibilities of SB employee.
  • Follow all CPI compliance policies
  • Must maintain good attendance
  • Respectful to all employees
  • No more than 3 quality point errors in a rolling 6 month period.
  • Maintain productivity goals set for job and machine.

Production Operator II

  • All functions of Level I Operator
  • Set machine up with little assistance from lead or technician.
  • Certified in at least three pieces of equipment.
  • Able to run machine by themselves for set period of time (will be asked to do this during busy season, up to 2 hours at one time)
  • Knowledge of QC equipment to test own cards produced.
  • Ability to train new employees on at least one piece of certified equipment when requested (includes a 10 hour training class).
  • No more than 3 quality point errors in a rolling 6 month period.
  • Maintain productivity goals set for job and machine.

Production Operator III

  • All functions for Level II Operator
  • Set machine up without any assistance.
  • Certified in on at least 5 pieces of equipment (must be certified on AZ lines).
  • Ability to train employees on at least 3 pieces of certified equipment (includes a 10 hour training class).
  • Step into Floor Lead role temporarily when required.
  • Expert Knowledge of QC equipment to test own cards produced and other set ups for QC Audit reports.
  • No more than 2 quality point errors in a rolling 6 month period.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent; and/or 1-3 months related experience in production machine operations.
