Sunrise Senior Living has an immediate need for a Design Associate I at its corporate office location in McLean, VA (Tysons Corner).
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand the Sunrise brand standards and signature design elements and how to incorporate them into the design of projects
  • Learn and gain an understanding of floor plans and how to produce furniture layouts and space planning within Sunrise signature standards
  • Product selection to create and furnish the space including finishes, furniture, accessories, drapery, lighting and other interior elements
  • Managing reselections of product when necessary
  • Proper management and entry of data into budgets and responsible for lower level approvals of product cost in accordance with predetermined project budgets, and the proper adherence to that budget
  • Managing daily and weekly task to meet established deadlines for the design team and department
  • Create detailed furniture specifications and fabric/finish selections
  • Create detailed drawing documents for inclusion in design packages for construction and installation of materials and finishes
  • Review of shop drawings and submittals by trades for accuracy to the intended design
  • Compiling of details and specification, use of Excel and acrobat to create installation guides and design presentation using standard templates
  • Data entry into our software systems for processing, and data entry into Microsoft programs for tracking and updating / sharing information for other team members
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, with design team and those we design for at Sunrise Senior Living (vendors, contractors, service providers, Sunrise team members, and residents)
  • Working in a design department resources /vendor library to receive exposer to appropriate products in the healthcare field and some organization and ordering of samples
  • Designing within the healthcare codes and laws while adhering to brand standards
  • Attendance and Participation in vendor meeting, department and team meeting, and when appropriate other larger Sunrise CSO meetings, gleaning form them new information in order to better the product or production of the design department
  • Ability to participate in some travel (throughout the US and Canada) and assist in installation of products, site assessments, or construction management
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from accredited school
  • Interview and portfolio required
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe
  • Understanding of floor plans and how to produce construction documents, furniture layouts and Space planning
  • Familiar with technical aspects and industry standards
  • Creativity to design and adhere to varying types of budgets
  • Ability to combine all selections to create cohesive designs when working in existing conditions
  • Excellent time management skills as we frequently work on more than one project at a time under demanding deadlines
  • Ability to work in an open workspace and team environment
  • High attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work under pressure of multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
