Job Description

Job Summary:

The RN Float provides direct nursing care in a diverse healthcare environment in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrates personal commitment to the organization's core values and nursing mission, vision, and philosophy through active involvement in the quality improvement process.
  • Floats to all areas of assigned hospital based on competency.
  • Displays ability to perform unit-specific skills based on unit competency validation process and department-required certifications to be required within department scope.
  • Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.


Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
    • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required.  Only current American Heart Association BLS/HCP, or the equivalent American Red Cross (ARC), CPR for Professional Rescuers, card-validated training will be accepted upon hire.
    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure by the State of Michigan Board of Nursing required.

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, Associate's Degree required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Work Experience:

  • One year of related acute care RN experience with critical care or telemetry required.
