Job Description
Job Summary:
The RN Float provides direct nursing care in a diverse healthcare environment in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Responsibilities:
- Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrates personal commitment to the organization's core values and nursing mission, vision, and philosophy through active involvement in the quality improvement process.
- Floats to all areas of assigned hospital based on competency.
- Displays ability to perform unit-specific skills based on unit competency validation process and department-required certifications to be required within department scope.
- Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Licenses/Certifications/Registration:
- Required Credential(s):
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required. Only current American Heart Association BLS/HCP, or the equivalent American Red Cross (ARC), CPR for Professional Rescuers, card-validated training will be accepted upon hire.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure by the State of Michigan Board of Nursing required.
Education:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, Associate's Degree required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Work Experience:
- One year of related acute care RN experience with critical care or telemetry required.
