Responsibilities

ResponsibilitiesASSESSMENT 1.1. Provides appropriate patient assessment to promote optimal levels of wellness throughout Prehospital care. 1.1.1. Elicits history pertinent to the emergency situation. 1.1.2. Utilizes an appropriate primary and secondary survey method. 1.1.3. Documents initial assessment of patient's condition, environment and HPI. 1.1.4. Utilizes appropriate scene survey techniques to promote safety of crew and patient.IMPLEMENTATION 2.1. Utilizes organizational, scene management, and priority setting skills, which promote efficient, comprehensive, health center, and pre-hospital care.2.1.1. Provides care in accordance with priorities of care and established policies and procedures. 2.1.2. Ensures patient needs are met as soon as possible, as to include spiritual, psychological, and physical safety. 2.1.3. Provides care in a personalized, open, professional, and caring manner. 2.1.4. Respects patients in regards to patients Bill of Rights.SKILLS 3.1. Demonstrates the ability to recognize indications and usage for specific airway adjuncts to include nasal cannula, oropharangeal, nasopharangeal, esophogeal obturator airway, and endotracheal intubation in connection with appropriate oxygen supplementation.3.2. Demonstrates the ability to use and indications for specific hemorrhage management based on accepted standards and or procedures.3.3. Provides appropriate application of equipment for mechanical stabilization.3.4. Knowledgeable of Prehospital Medical Protocols, EMS and Mercy Policies and Procedures. 3.4.1. Demonstrates initiative in establishing ALS intervention. 3.4.2. Knowledgeable and demonstrates use of indications, contraindications, and appropriate administration of medications as allowed by protocols, policies and procedures. 3.4.3. Elicits proficiency in EKG interpretations. 3.4.4. Functions according to ACLS Standards. 3.4.5. Knowledgeable and demonstrates use and indications, contraindications and appropriate administration of IV fluids and IV access as allowed by protocols, policies and procedures. 3.4.6. Knowledgeable and demonstrates competent use and indication for, or contraindications of using defibrillation. 3.4.7. Knowledgeable of topographical layout of Bourbon County area and cities within.COMMUNICATION 4.1. Communicates verbally and nonverbally in a concise, effective and appropriate manner with all persons involved.4.2. Documents information in a pertinent and concise manner, consistant with established policies and procedures.4.3. Demonstrates appropriate radio communication to include frequency, organization, and supply of accurate information.4.4. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.POLICIES AND PROCEDURES/STAFF DUTIES 5.1. Reviews policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.5.2. Practices standard precautions.5.3. Performs ambulance maintenance according to policies. 5.3.1. Performs Ambulance duties, including maintenance records and documentation of cleaning and maintenance of Ambulance equipment, and cleaning and maintenance of EMS vehicles daily with documentation submitted to Emergency Services Director.5.4. Maintains records and documents to include: trip ticket, charges, and appropriate billing information. Trip tickets to be completed before end of shift.GENERAL PERFORMANCE 6.1. Demonstrates work habits and demeanor which contributes to the effective functioning of the department.6.2. Plans, organizes, and evaluates work activities to be completed on time.6.3. Provides cost effective patient care.6.4. Provides initiative and adaptability in work activities, and is able to accept changes in assignments , new ideas, and methods.6.5. Provides assistance where needed without hesitation.6.6. Demonstrates cooperativeness and support by working with others.6.7. Meets health center attendance standards.6.8. Wears clothing and health center badge consistent with dress code, and maintains a clean well groomed appearance.6.9. Maintains a clean, presentable work environment.PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 7.1. Complies with yearly CPR Certification.7.2. Assumes responsibility for continuing growth and education as a professional MICT.7.3. Obtains continuing education requirements to maintain current licensure.Actively participates in department work groups. 8.1. Attends 75% of departmental meetings.8.2. Completes assigned tasks within established time frames in order to promote success of the groups function.8.3. Participates in delivery of presentations/projects to promote community education/awareness.Performs other job functions as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Holds and maintains a valid Kansas EMICT License. Holds and maintains a current drivers license.

* Current Basic Life Support ( and ACLS, PALS) through the American Heart Association is required.
