ARCHITECT IT - Full-time / Part-time

 We are searching for an Architect to help us build our next generation BI architecture.

Job Responsibilities

• Creates a robust, sustainable BI architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion.
• Evaluates and selects various data warehousing tools and components.
• Oversees the design of the data and technical architecture for the data marts and related analytics data sets.
• Coordinates the work of BI Data Engineers.
• Oversees the development of logical and physical data models, ETL scripts, metadata definitions and models, queries and reports, schedules, work processes, and maintenance procedures. 

 MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements that are cost effective and sustainable. Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications.
Translate business requirements using complex methods and models to determine appropriate system solutions.
Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.
Research, identify, test, certify, and select technology products required for solution delivery.
Establish and implement technology migration strategies for a specific application or architecture within an IT portfolio.
Lead technology review meetings and ensure appropriate governance processes are followed.

NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to Senior Architect, Senior Manager, or Director
No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 9 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Expert technical proficiency in one or more of the following: Retail applications, Windows platform, UNIX platforms, MVS COBOL, JAVA, J2EE, Relational Databases, Websphere Application Server, Websphere Commerce, Websphere MQ, Networking (Voice, LAN, WAN), SAP, Siebel, Peoplesoft.
Comprehensive understanding of systems, applications, and/or networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and overall cost to develop and maintain.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
