The employee in this position will perform duties for rebate accounting and financial reporting within the Accounting department of OptumRx, the pharmacy benefit management division of United HealthGroup. (Rebates from the pharmaceutical industry comprise a substantial portion of the segment's multi-billion dollar annual revenue.)
Primary Responsibilities:


Perform duties for rebate accounting and financial reporting

Prepare complex journal entries, including intercompany entries and elimination entries in Oracle and PeopleSoft 

Analyze and report on multi-billion dollar A / R aging.  Forecast cash receipts and DSO

Perform maintenance on A / R sub ledger.  Download billing and cash application to general ledger 

Extract, unify, consolidate, and map data obtained from various systems and sources 

Perform difficult and complex account reconciliations and load into the Blackline system

Perform account fluctuation analysis and provide business drivers to Management

Support internal audits, external audits, and SOX audits 

Develop innovative approaches for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness 

Document business requirements for systems upgrades and test in development before launch into production 

Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation 

Analyze contracts and document terms for upload into ERP system 

Collaborate with other departments and divisions, including Forecasting, Pricing, Industry Relations, Client Management, and Regulatory Reporting
 
 
 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor degree with concentration in Accounting or similar
Able to work and contribute in a team environment. Willing to lead others by example
Extremely accurate and productive
Strong sense of urgency while maintaining a calm demeanor; ability to shift priorities quickly
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to take initiative
Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
Exceptional technical, analytical, and organizational skills
2+ years of Accounting experience
Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general ledger systems
Experience working with databases to load data, run queries, and perform reporting
Experience with accounts receivable systems and cash applications
Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements
Preferred Qualifications:

CPA or MBA
Public accounting experience
Pharmaceutical, healthcare, or insurance experience
Accounting experience handling regulated entities
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Access or SQL
