About this job

The Benefits Specialist reports to the Program Manager. Primary responsibilities are counseling clients on public benefits such as Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Medi-Cal, Medicare and Private Insurance. The Benefits Specialist also enrolls and maintains CARE/HIPP and MEDI-CAL/HIPP applicants. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for yearly and as needed patient financial screenings and eligibility data input into mandated computer system. Works as a Liaison between the patients and case managers as well as providers The Benefits Specialist performs these duties as reflected in the mission of Dignity Healht/SMMC and the CARE Program & Clinics.

Requirements:

* Minimum requirement of one year working in a related position within a social services agency.

* Knowledge of public benefits programs a must.

* An understanding of HIV/AIDS helpful.

* Bachelor's degree preferred.

* Must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.

* Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) desirable.
