A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DELIVERY DRIVER
As a Delivery Driver, your day begins loading the truck with delicious items shopped from our store, ready to deliver to our customers’ doors. This is a fast-paced position delivering items to designated homes and businesses. You will have the opportunity to display your excellent customer service skills and build relationships with the customers you serve. We invite you to join our team today!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

• Provide high-quality customer service in accordance with Safeway’s customer service standards and policies and procedures.
• Able to work independently, as there is only one driver per vehicle.
• Able to lift, lower, and carry groceries weighing 15 – 50 lbs.
• Operate company provided truck safely, efficiently and in accordance with all applicable motor vehicle laws and company policies and procedures.
• Deliver orders to customers’ homes and/or places of business within established time frame.
• Physically load/unload delivery trucks.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs, including vehicle inspection reports, on a daily basis.
• Establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers.
• Ensures customer delivery questions are courteously and accurately answered.
• Adhere to uniform and grooming policy as defined within company policy.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position:**

• One year of paid driving experience preferred
• Excellent driving and route mapping skills
• Ability to work safely and quickly in a fast paced environment
• Ability to lift from ground level to overhead, carry and maneuver items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Valid Class C driver’s license issued within the state of workplace with a history of no more than one moving violation, no suspensions or not at fault accidents within the last three years, and no DUI/DWI within the past seven years
• Eighteen years of age or older (19 for Arizona, 21 for Virginia, Washington, and Oregon)
• Ability to be subject to environmental temperatures (hot, cold, wind, rain)
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and ability to read, retain, and comprehend Safeway.com policies, procedures and guidelines
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently as well as within a large team
• Self-motivated and driven to increase knowledge of Safeway products and share that knowledge with Safeway customers
• Ability to provide regular and predictable attendance (Safeway.com employees may be scheduled to work early mornings, evenings weekends and holidays and schedules may vary on a weekly basis)
• Ability to comply with workplace conduct standards

Seldom: 1-2 hours, Occasional: 3-4 hours, Frequent: 5-6 hours, Continuous: 7+ hours (Based on an 8 hour work day.)
