Job Description Title: Prepared Foods & Bakery Associate Team Leader Team: PFDS/Bakery Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: PFDS & Bakery Team Leader Level in the Midwest Regional Guidelines: Category 6 Job Code: S214 General Summary The Associate Team Leader supervises all prepared foods and bakery team operations and Team Members. The responsibilities are many, varied, and directed toward upholding Whole Foods Market Core Values and the company's goals. This position is for individuals training to become a Prepared Foods and/or Bakery Team Leader. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed in support of the Store or Whole Foods Market Team Member Development Successfully complete all team learning checklists. Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market vision and goals. Interview, select, train, develop, and counsel Team Members in a manner which builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turnover. Make hiring decisions in conjunction with Team Leader and store leadership. Establish and maintain a positive work environment, which sustains an exceptionally high level of Team Member morale. Select and develop supervisors as potential Team Leaders. Provide timely, thorough and thoughtful performance evaluations. Communicate and maintain employee safety and security standards. Thorough and complete documentation in support of Team Member discipline and counseling activities. Merchandising/Marketing Leadership Develop and maintain product merchandising. Maintain accurate files for ordering, scheduling, and holiday performance. Support regional vision and execute all regional directives and programs. Establish creative and competitive weekly and monthly "specials" which support established merchandising and marketing themes. Creatively merchandise sales area to maximize sales and minimize spoilage. Sustain exceptional level of knowledge/awareness of relevant competitors and industry trends. Financial Leadership Manage ordering and inventory to achieve targeted contribution profit margin. Manage packaging usage and storage to minimize expense. Schedule labor accurately and efficiently to achieve targeted labor expense. Submit all required reports and data within required timelines. Accurately perform inventory of entire department as required. Manage the buying/ordering process to meet Whole Foods Market quality standards, maintain competitive pricing and achieve targeted sales. Communication Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationship with Store Leadership, Coordinators, Team Leaders, and all Team Members. Communicate all team objectives and relevant information clearly to Team Members in a timely manner (team meetings, bulleting boards, newsletters, logbooks, etc.). Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships. Model an attitude that communicates Whole Foods Market vision and goal for success. Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a good working knowledge of Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software and Email.
