About this job

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or designee, the Unit Secretary is responsible for clerical support activities as described under essential duties and responsibilities. The primary functions in direct support of physicians, nursing staff, patients, families and visitors include but are not limited to providing a direct focal point for external and internal contact with the unit, and assuring that all required recording, documentation, tracking and maintenance of administrative activities are processed responsively. Experience Required:

* Familiarity with data entry and the maintenance of automated documentation

* Minimum 3-5 years combined experience in the healthcare industry

* 1-2 years of experience with a minimum of 1 year in area of related field (preferred)

Education Required:

* High school graduate or equivalent

* Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field or equivalent professional experience (preferred)

Traing Required:

* Complete annual safety training.

* Complete and maintain department specific training

Special Skills Required:

* Must have leadership ability and good communication and interpersonal skills.

* The ability to quickly learn necessary medical terms normally associated with the Unit.

* Demostrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide spectrum of the public with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

* Ability to effectively process a great number of forms, reports, and records in accordance with generic guidelines.

* Ability to read and speak English clearly and be understood.
