About This Opportunity
The Sr. Program Owner develops processes and procedures to ensure new products are efficiently classified per applicable compliance regulations. The Sr. Program Owner works internally with merchandising to develop and enhance product classification compliance programs. This position will develop and manage the relationship with outside vendors that provide product classification information. In addition, the Sr. Program Owner will develop and implement quality control programs to ensure product classification data integrity. This position serves as a subject matter expert on product compliance and product compliance attributes.

  • Develops and enhances programs to ensure all Target products are classified per regulatory requirements (e.g. hazardous waste, fire code, transportation)
  • Owns and oversees processes for ensuring the quality of product classification data
  • Escalates and manages merchant, vendor, or data quality issues
  • Maintains a deep knowledge of product compliance regulations by reviewing regulations,trainings and RILA connections/awareness
  • Maintains an understanding of relevant business practices and processes
  • Manages responses to regulatory inspections dealing with product restrictions or bans
  • Provides merchants with subject matter expertise on product compliance regulations
  • Develops and delivers training to merchants and vendors
  • Prioritizes product classification needs and assists in determining resource requirements
  • Leads or participates in cross functional teams in the development and execution of short andlong term product compliance solutions
  • Participates in budgeting process
  • Contributes to the development of sustainable best practices for product compliancemanagement
  • May participate in trade associations to understand industry trends and to gather insight on best management practices
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • BA/BS college degree, preferably in environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience in environmental compliance
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance regulations
  • Strong process management and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, manage conflict and act with urgency
  • Knowledge of computer software programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel andAccess
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Some travel required on a project by project basis
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) Certification
