Position Summary:

Assess and screen applications, conduct phone screens, prepare interview packages, and present stores with a qualified slate of applicants. Ensure candidates and store teams have positive recruiting experiences by keeping them informed throughout the process and answering their questions. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

• Screen candidate applications using best-fit criteria, such as availability and behavioral assessments
• Conduct initial phone interviews to confirm applicant interest in the position and availability and share information about the position
• Manage communications with candidates and stores and keep individuals informed and engaged throughout the recruitment process
• Act as a proponent of positive candidate experiences
• Work closely with other members of the recruiting team to ensure all applicant information is updated in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and communicated to candidates in a timely fashion
• Review background checks and determine if candidates have the appropriate disposition for the role in question
• Support and assist with high-volume recruiting events, such as new store openings and remodels/expansions
• Stay up to date on the retail industry, employment trends and hourly associate practices to effectively anticipate and address changes that could impact applicant availability, sourcing and recruiting
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws and company standards regarding recruiting practices
• Help continuously assess and improve time-to-fill, quality of hires and candidate experience
• Travel to stores to support high-volume recruiting events
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• 2 years of recruiting experience
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally
• Strong ability to efficiently and effectively screen applications
• Proven interpersonal skills, specifically the ability to understand and connect with people
• Ability and desire to work effectively with diverse groups of candidates and internal customers
• Ability to effectively promote the culture and benefits of working for Kroger and endorse the company’s brand
• Ability to effectively manage tasks, including following up on outstanding action items
• Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information regarding candidates and employees
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience recruiting hourly associates for retail store positions
• Experience using Success Factor's recruiting module (preferred) or another applicant tracking system
