Midwest Center for Day Surgery is located on the campus of Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Serving surgeons and their patients since 1986, the facility features five operating rooms and a minor procedure room. The facility is accredited by the The Joint Commission, is an approved provider in the Medicare program and is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Anesthesia services are furnished by the anesthesiologists affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital as well as an anesthesiologist who works solely at Midwest Center for Day Surgery.

 

Operating Room Charge Nurse:

 

Efficiently coordinate operational nursing activities to accomplish continuity of patient care in the Operating Room, including providing expertise in operative nursing skills, facilitating communication among staff, physicians and management, and providing direct patient care when necessary.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
  1. Manage daily surgical schedule efficiently.
  2. Provide orientation to new nursing staff.
  3. Identify and report staff training needs to Clinical Manager. Assist staff in developing necessary surgical skills.
  4. Assist Clinical Manager in identifying and implementing appropriate, innovative and cost effective patient care practices.
  5. Identify and report supply and equipment needs. Has knowledge of function, performance and troubleshooting of all equipment.
  6. Work cooperatively and effectively with Pre-Op/Recovery charge nurse and staff, physicians and their office staff, business office staff and anesthesiologists.
  7. Consult Clinical Manager for decisions not clearly defined in Center Policy and Procedure Manuals.
  8. Function as scrub, circulator and assistant in all specialty areas when necessary, including accurate and complete medical record documentation.

 

Shift: 6:30-3:00

Qualifications:

Required:

Current licensure in State of Illinois.

Certification in Basic Life Support.

One year management-related experience.

Five years OR experience.

 

Preferred:

CNOR certification.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

                          Experience with all patient age groups
