Technical Writer/Editor

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Techinical Writer/Editor for a local security company.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides writing and/or technical editing of documents, letters, papers, registers, plans and manuals for client.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

• Writes and/or edits technical materials such as technical electronic, mechanical, and software system descriptions for proposals and contract documents; regulations, plans, programs, specifications in technical areas; prepares technical electronic security systems operations and maintenance manuals.
• Provides written and oral reports, abstracts, summaries, charts, graphs, or other products including born-digital products.
• Develops information and analysis to select and present information on the specialized subject in a format and at a level suitable for the intended audience.
• Analyzes, researches and reviews the content, preparation and organization of design phase, installation phase, test phase and maintenance phase documents.
• Adapts Safety & Health Plans and Accident Prevention Plans for Government projects.
• Prepares program plans, protocols, and quality control procedures for periodic reviews to maintain and implement Facility Security accreditation for office.
• Assists with proposal efforts. Reviews contract requirements.
• Researches, organizes, and applies equipment data sheets.
• Prepares and produces written documents, including reports, articles, memoranda, and formal correspondence.
• Edits portions of studies, reports, program plans, documents, training slides, etc and assists in or directs the development and presentation of the information.
• Analyzes changes to various projects and prepares reports of changes for review.
• Organizes and coordinates assignments that involve complex, novel or obscure problems and/or special requirements for analyzing and organizing information.
• Creates technically accurate and comprehensive documentation and website support.
• Documents meeting minutes. Prepares and transmits daily and weekly reports.
• Performs other related duties as assigned, such as support for the Engineering and Logistics Departments.
• This position may require occasional travel.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be confident utilizing Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Computer and electronic communication equipment such as facsimile, scanner, digital camera, multi-line phone and printers. This position requires periodic drug testing, a valid driver’s license, Background Check and ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

B.A./B.S. in English, Technical Communication, Professional Writing, or working towards a degree in a related field. Education and experience in a field of Science, Engineering, Design or Technology is quite beneficial, as is having understanding of or ability to learn the principles of low-voltage electronic sensor physical security networks, control, monitoring, operations, communications.
