Purchasing Agent - Manufacturing - Full-time / Part-time

Established and growing food manufacturer located near Islandia, NY seeks an experienced Buyer/Purchasing Agent.

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for procuring raw materials for food manufacturing facility.

The incumbent must have 5+ years of experience as a Purchasing Agent, or similar role, in a manufacturing environment. Food manufacturer experience is a +

BA/BS degree in business administration, or relevant field, highly preferred

Must be skilled in negotiating prices & terms and conditions, have excellent communication skills and proficient with MS Office Suite & purchasing software

Bilingual a plus

Job functions include, but are not limited to:

• Negotiate ingredient pricing, payment terms, and volume rebates with new and existing suppliers
• Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance to terms of contracts
• Monitor inventory levels against safety stock to determine purchasing requirements
• Prepare and issue purchase orders
• Work with R&D and QA on ingredient specifications and vendor approvals
• Initiate new vendor and new ingredient ‘round robin’ reports to appropriate personnel
• Verify invoice quantity and pricing against documentation for submission to Accounts Payable

Hours: Mon – Fri 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
