The Assistant Manager for Red Pine Lodge is responsible for supporting the General Manager in all operational functions.  This individual should possess a strong background in supervisory / management roles, a positive demeanor, excellent problem solving skills and honed interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Fully train or assist in training new FOH employees.  Assist in maintaining/updating/expanding the training manual. Ongoing training of all staff members with the ability to mentor and develop individuals
  • Ensure all customers are provided with outstanding service
  • Responsible for ordering supplies, and inventory control and establishing relationship with suppliers ensuring the business receives competitive terms
  • Maintain all liquor regulations as set out by the UDABC
  • Relay positive feedback regarding employees’ performance as well as concerns/issues to management
  • Effectively communicate all FOH policy and operating matters to staff.  Recommend policy changes.  Assure compliance with labor laws and company policy.
  • During periods of time off ensure restaurant is covered during peak periods by another manager.
  • Maintain high customer relations and tend to customer service issues as they arise.
  • Ensure that opening, shift change and closing checklists are completed.
  • Be prepared to back up all positions during peak times.
  • Maintain open communication with all staff in FOH and BOH
  • Analyze labor needs as shift progresses and promptly send excess service staff home.
  • Report maintenance issues to management immediately
  • Conduct a regular FOH inventory of supplies and relay needs to management in a timely manner
  • Maintain a secure, clean, organized, and prepared restaurant.
  • Ensure Daily Sales Report, journal notations, shift reports, and server cash drop procedures are being followed.
  • Maintain payroll, personnel, paperwork and other issues as they occur
  • Ensure proper preparations and presentation of food and beverage items and oversee the food and beverage sales
  • Maintain a harmonious working relationship with other departments and non Vail Resorts, Inc. entities
  • Meet all compliance requirements (SOX)
  • Effectively manage staff with positive and effective motivation
  • High standards for attendance and appearance. Presenting a professional demeanor at all times.

Qualifications:

  • At least two years of Food & Beverage experience
  • Prior supervisory or managerial experience
  • Possess Utah Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of hire
  • Possess Utah TIPS card within 14 days of hire
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and a strong understanding of our POS system once trained
  • Must be available to work weekends, nights and holidays
  • Knowledge of food/liquor cost and maintaining controls and accountabilities
  • Possess strong money handling skills, excellent organizational skills, and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Must be 21 years or older

Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to work in outside environments.
  • Ability to wear approved slip resistant footwear.
